Directing

Influenced by the disturbing and poetic atmosphere of the Silent Hill video game saga, the seductive darkness of Clive Barker's tortured universe, the torments of John Carpenter and his visual signature of captivating minimalism, I constantly seek to explore the buried territories of psychological horror. My goal is to create dark, disturbing and hypnotic works through a cold, sinister, refined and even contemplative staging.

On a lighter note, it was the hilarious works of Monty Python and the Zucker brothers, the totally wacky situations of Quentin Dupieux, and the satirical realism of Benoît Delépine and Gustave Kervern that developed my interest for comedy. In this particular facet, I seek to provoke laughter through absurd concepts and offbeat staging that sometimes takes on a parodic, satirical and even provocative feel.

Essay 21

Feature film – Horror / Experimental

Exhausted by his work and the routine, a person decides to suddenly break his daily life and wander in unknown places, in which he gradually sinks and gets lost.

Essay 21 is a film project of a certain magnitude in which I wanted to explore horror from a certain angle. The idea was to free myself from the codes of the genre, notably through a specific choice of staging, a constantly disturbing atmosphere and an omnipresent contemplative aspect. One of the ambitions of this film was also to tell a story by following the protagonist's journey without ever making him appear, in order to stimulate the viewer's imagination as well as the different possible interpretations that result from it.

[EMPTY]

Short film – Horror

A man realizes that all the items in his living room are disappearing one by one.

Starting out as a simple narrative writing exercise during my training at ECTQ, [EMPTY] has become a full-fledged psychological horror short film. Since the film's theme is disappearance, I wanted it to be progressive. With each element that disappears, the tension rises a notch, until it provokes absolute terror for the protagonist. The phenomenon can also be interpreted as a classic supernatural event, an existential crisis or even a discourse on consumer society. Not possess, not exist.

Love Is In The Sink

Short film – Comedy / Romance

While washing the dishes, a woman remember her romantic past.

It was as part of a double reaction shot exercise during my training at ECTQ that Love Is In The Sink came to life. In this film, I sought to provoke laughter in the viewer through the emotionally touching music and the absurdity of the situation with which it contrasts. The subtext of this film can be interpreted as a critic about the women's condition seen by patriarchy. I thus sought to provoke this conception by making the character fall in love with an object to which she is attached according to this vision: a sponge.

The Wallet

Short film – Comedy

As she returns to the scene of her crime, a woman realizes she is being pursued by two menacing men.

Produced as part of the "Wallet" project, the aim of which is to recreate a stakeout and tension through staging, this is my first co-direction. Working with Vincent Mouniama, I was able to learn to collaborate, exchange directorial ideas and innovate my approach. Inspired by the Coen Brothers and Monty Python filmography, we sought to challenge the usual conventions of a chasing by challenging the viewer's expectations. For example, by using specific shots and framing, combining both suspense and absurd humor.

The Duplicates

Short film - Documentary

Direct Cinema focuses on the relationship and symbiosis of two twin brothers: Quentin and Allan Courmont.

Although very different from what I've done before, creating a documentary was an idea that had intrigued me for some time. Fascinated by the relationship between twins in general, it was after meeting Quentin and Allan during my training at ECTQ and observing their powerful brotherly bond that I came up with the idea of making a documentary about the symbiosis of twins. Halfway between documentary and portrait, I sought to transcribe their life together and expose their close bond on screen by immersing myself in their daily lives.

The project is currently being worked on for a feature version.

The Potion Race

Short film / Web series - Comedy

A mysterious charlatan offers Alphonse & Auguste a taste of strange and powerful potions.

Loosely inspired by the films of Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton and early burlesque cinema, Alphonse & Auguste, a short web series co-directed with Jérôme Verdier and Malo Nicol, is above all a tribute to the cinema of yesteryear. The concept is relatively simple: confront two socially opposed characters with a specific situation to each episode. The plot of this one revolves around the consumption of substances that grant strange powers, which quickly takes the form of a frantic and caricatured chase between the two protagonists, who constantly fight and consume to become more powerful.

Desire

Short film - Experimental

A short warning about the fire of love at its most burning, dangerous and devastating.

A pram burning in the heart of darkness accompanied by a soft and romantic music. A certain visual violence and a disturbing sound and image relationship, this is how I wanted to disturb the viewer. The challenge of this (very) short film was simply to make a one-minute film as part of a course at ECTQ. Here I opted for an aesthetic and metaphorical approach, representing love as a constant and destructive fire, gradually devouring the cradle of life.

Fin Alley

Short film - Comedy / Gag

Did you see it coming?

Like Monty Python, provoking the viewer and their expectations was certainly the main challenge of this project. Being a second one-minute film to be made as part of the same course at ECTQ, I focused here on an idea: to provoke laughter through the absurd by playing with the viewer's expectations.

Passage

Short Film - Horror

A man discovers a strange and sinister corridor behind one of his apartment doors. After venturing inside, he quickly realizes he's trapped in a disturbing, irrational and oppressive place.

Produced alongside my university studies, Passage is my first short film, entirely written and directed. Loosely inspired by the video game P.T. (Silent Hills), the goal of this first attempt at psychological horror was to launch myself into the creative sphere of filmmaking, to confront the writing of a script and the reality of filming that entails. But I also sought to forge a visual identity by creating a dark and oppressive atmosphere through a sober and disturbing staging.

Matt Wild - What Kind Of Life

Music Video

Music video for the song "What Kind of Life" by Matt Wild.

This collaboration with Matt Wild (Mathieu Andrieux) was an opportunity for me to create my first music video, to develop my visual identity while following the instructions given to me. The most interesting part, in my opinion, was the editing. Giving meaning and style by synchronizing the music with the image and "juggling" with the different shots was a fun challenge that I wanted to take on.
